A Royal Experience With Paul Burrell
NYIT de Seversky Mansion - Old Westbury, NY
Thursday, September 20, 2012

The NYIT de Seversky Mansion hosted quite the Royal Experience on Thursday, September 20th. This royal style gala featured a very special guest, Paul Burrell, who served Great Britain's Royal Family for more than two decades.

Over the course of 21 years, Paul Burrell went from being a member of the Royal household staff to personal attendant to the Queen of England and then butler to the Price and Princess of Wales. Ultimately, he became the trusted personal assistant and confidante to the late Princess Diana.

Throughout the evening, Mr. Burrell was nice enough to share his personal experiences of serving the Royal family. Guests received the inside scoop of what life was like in Buckingham Palace while enjoying a lavish dinner prepared by Robert Rizzuto, Executive Chef at NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Chef Rizzuto didn't serve up a typical dinner - he cleverly replicated the menu of a meal served to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on June 16, 1987.

Guests began with Avocats ŕ l'Homard, a delicious poached lobster with avocado (above right), followed by Selle d'Agneau Poęlče Princesse (below left), a succulent rack of lamb served with Betteraves Braisčes (braised beets) and Pommes Nouvelles Persillčes (new potatoes with parsley). A fresh salad was then served and the meal ended on a sweet note with some Andrassy Pudding (below right).

Paul Burrell's NYIT experience did not end at the gala. It continued the following day, Friday, September 21st at the NYIT Auditorium in New York City where Mr. Burrell discussed service among the royals and how it has changed over the years. On Saturday, September 22nd guests were invited back to the de Seversky Mansion for palace-style tea while Mr. Burrell created a table setting fit for a queen featuring a royally grand flower display. He then discussed etiquette and shared intimate details and memories about the Royal Family.
