Nassau Suffolk Law Services'
5th Annual Wine Tasting
The Carltun at Eisenhower Park
Thursday, September 19, 2013

Nassau Suffolk Law Services' mission statement is "to provide quality legal services in civil matters in a manner that respects the individual dignity of low-income and disabled individuals and helps insure that they are afforded the full protection and benefits of the law." In a effort to raise money for this wonderful cause, they provided an elaborate sit down dinner in the luxurious Carltun at Eisenhower Park.

To set the tone for the night, a trio of musicians played relaxing music. There was a cello (above left), drums (above center) and a xylophone (above right). They played throughout the evening as guests talked amongst themselves tasting wines, making stops along the buffet and sitting in gold colored chairs at large white linen clad tables that could seat ten underneath a canopy of chandeliers.

Along the perimeter of the dining hall there was a buffet with servers handing out generous portions of delicious dishes. Guests were welcome to grab a plate a go along the line. Perfectly tender meats were freshly sliced by kind young gentlemen. The beef was cooked medium rare with roasted potatoes (above left). The turkey was juicy and succulent and served with a sweet cranberry sauce (above right).

Polite young ladies served delectable Italian dishes. There was eggplant rollatini (above left) and tri color pastas such as linguine, penne and tortellini (above right). These pastas were served with a choice of marinara sauce or a cream sauce with vegetables. The tortellini were especially rich and flavorful.

Towards the end, light dessert was served including assorted cookies and brownies (above left). Wine was plentiful this evening (above right), for it was a wine tasting event. Guests were able to try a variety of wines at the bar area in the room off of the dining hall. These wines provided a great aperitif to the wonderful meal.

As guests were enjoying dessert, the winners of the raffles were announced. The announcer was animated and entertaining (above left). She said amusing phrases such as "Can I get a drum roll?" when announcing the next raffle and "I'm shaking, I'm shaking!" when picking raffle tickets. Her positive energy put a happy note to the close of the evening.
