Saturday, July 26, 2014

The 10th Annual "A Hamptons Happening" was held at the beautiful estate of Maria and Kenneth Fishel for the third year in a row. This splendid event encompassed an array of artisan delicacies from Long Island and Manhattan's finest restaurants.

Among the amazing line up of culinary delights was Executive Chef Misha Levin who had a line awaiting him outside his food truck the entire night. His southern cavier bison burger topped with pimento cheese, country bacon, stout grilled onions, and horseradish remoulade was a favorite of the evening. Guests also enjoyed an amazing barbecue short rib with spicy shrimp slaw from Chef Billy Olivia of Delmonico's Southamption, a beautifully presented spring roll from Fresh Hamptons and Chef Chris Coleman of Coleman Cooking shucking fresh clams and oysters at his raw bar, just to name a few.

When guests were ready to indulge in divine sweetness Smush, the Deli of Desserts was ready for them. Smush served an ice cream sandwich unlike any other. This outrageous cookie concoction allowed guests to choose the type of cookie that your ice cream sandwich would be made with as well as a customized filling. Attendees also made their way to the Hampton Chocolate Factory where chocolatier Caroline Gappelberg had the most amazing variety of chocolates. No wonder the slogan for the Hampton Chocolate Factory is "A Little Luxury, Big Taste". To round off the evening guests had the opportunity to try the most delectable raspberry rugelach from Erica's Rugelach & Baking Company of Brooklyn.

After noshing on delectable sweet treats, savory tastings and sipping on spectacular libations, guests were asked to make their way to the stage area. The master of ceremonies thanked everyone for attending , talked about the importance of the evening and introduced the honorees. James Beard award winning Chef David Burke was one of the honorees of the event along with fashion designer Betsey Johnson and founder of Row for Hope Paul Ridley. The evening continued with a luxury live auction led by CBS News Anchor, Chris Wragge.

A Hamptons Happening was definitely an event like no other. Guests indulged, mingled, bid on luxurious auction items and danced all while raising money to benefit the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation and to help find a cure for cancer.
